OBSESSED! Hair Chalk

Who says color blocking is only for your clothes & shoes? Take this trend to a whole new level with one our our newest obsessions, Hair Chalk! This stuff even works on my raven black locks, and if it shows up on me, it will show up on anyone!

Obsessed!

A perfect tool for adding a splash of color when you are feeling funky or just want to try something new!

Why I Love It:
This is a great way to get fun, semi-perm color to give your 'do some 'tude without the time & harsh effects of dye! When you are done, just simply wash your hair and the color is gone. I love this 32 color palette I picked up from Urban Outfitters. These colors are blendable &  vibrant so they show up even in the darkest of hair. Suitable for all age (and you can use this on your guys too!) and perfect for Halloween hair!

How I Use It:

  1. Wet the strand of hair you want to color with a spray bottle (if you have light blonde hair don't wet unless you are ok with the color to staying a few days; skip down to Step )
  2. Rub the chalk against the hair with downward strokes. I rub & twist the hair as I go to make sure the color is really in there.  You can wear gloves if you don't want to get the chalk all over you. If you want to blend colors or color a strand in sections, now is the time to do it!
  3. Let the hair dry. I prefer air drying the strands that I chalked but you can blow dry. Be sure to use a low setting & hold the dryer back from your head otherwise you will cause the pigments to fly off.
  4. Heat set. Use a flat iron and apply heat to the entire chalked section once its dry. You can also use a curling iron to get waves or curls.
  5. Seal it- apply a light coat of hair spray to seal the color in.
Get my set at Urban Outfitters for $14 or find one that you love! Send me your suggestions if you find a great set!

Fall Hair Trends You Should Start Wearing Now!!

There were some constants on the runway for hair this season but we saw some definite trend changes!

Here are the top 5 fall makeup trends to start wearing NOW as we get ready for the season change!

Big hair!
Big hair has slowly been making a comeback and it was everywhere during NYFW! From naturally big curls to pumped up volume to tons of teasing, take a trip back to the 80s and rock your big hair!

Keep your braids!
Braids are nothing new, they've been dominant for a couple of years now. This fall they are taking on more elegant and funky turns versus the messy, loose braids from Summer.

Ponytails!
Ponytails are almost always in style. From textured and messy, to tons of volume to kicking it up a notch with braids and bars, stock a couple of pony looks in your routine for easy, stylish hair in almost no time!

Pin Straight!
While curls have dominated for a while, we saw the flight irons come out and pin straight locks gracing the catwalks for Fall. So dig out your trusty Chi and get to ironing!

Faux Side Fringe
Bangs are either in style or they aren't. Right now they are hot, but will they be come Spring? Creating faux fringe is a great way to keep your look stylish without the commitment of cutting your hair!

Summer How To: Elegant Braided Updo

Summer is the time to give your hair a break from wands, irons & dryers. Summer's hot rays, chlorine & salt water do their own special damage to our hair. Look for day & night hair looks that require little to no heat but still give you a beautiful effect and give your hair a bit of a break!

Check out one of our favorite easy but elegant updo's that requires no heat!
